September Newsletter

The top story in our September Newsletter was the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health:

On September 28, the White House will convene its conference on hunger, nutrition, and health. The event will be live streamed for anyone interested. The conference website includes both information on how to watch and links to satellite events taking place online and across the country.

This conference follows a summer of listening sessions, public comment, advocacy groups sharing their priorities, and recommendations from food and health coalitions. At this conference, the Biden-Harris Administration will share their own National Strategy with actions the federal government will take to drive solutions towards the conference goal:

"End hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension."

Read the newsletter for a run down on Vermont food as medicine program analysis linked to recommendations expected to be considered in the White House report, plus information on ACO waivers for patient engagement, a new Rural Health Literacy Toolkit, the 2022 food insecurity screening systems survey, and upcoming events.
