SNAP-Ed RFP

SNAP-Ed is a federal program designed to help families and individuals eligible for SNAP food assistance (called 3SquaresVT in Vermont) eat more healthy food and get regular physical activity. These goals match with the state’s overall objective of reducing risk factors for the most common chronic diseases. You can read more about Vermont’s program online.

Projects receiving SNAP-Ed funds in Vermont include education initiatives, along with programs focused on changing policy, systems, and the food environment. Examples of these projects include VT Fresh at the Vermont Foodbank, Come Alive Outside in Rutland, and distance nutrition education through UVM Extension.

The Vermont Department of Health has posted an RFP for the following:

SNAP-Ed initiatives focusing special attention on encouraging increased fruit and vegetable consumption and physical activity and reducing food insecurity by SNAP-Ed eligible Vermonters, with an emphasis on single parent households with children under 18, particularly with children under age five, Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), Refugees, people living with a disability, rural Vermonters, and GLBTQ+ people.

The full RFP can be found online. Proposals are due on May 9th at 4:30 pm.
